Popsicle Stick Fairies!

International Fairy Day

Did you know that International Fairy Day was just a few days ago on the 24th? Well, if you didn’t know it is such a fun time to dress up and spend the day frolicking in the woods! It’s also a great day to add a little magic with your kids/grandchildren or friends. This picture is of my son from last year’s Fairy Day!

This year, we were just going through his craft box, and that’s when our ideas emerged into the super cute Popsicle fairies!

Popsicle fairy craft diy project

How to make them!

The great thing about this craft is that it’s really easy to make, and most of the items can be bought from the dollar store or craft store.

What you’ll need:

Fairy craft diy
  • Popsicle sticks (rainbow or plain)
  • Pom poms (any size and color)
  • Googly eyes (mix size pack)
  • Wood craft leaves – I bought mine a long time ago, but you can find ones online if you can’t find any at the craft store. Here’s one that has a great array of wood leaves that would make perfect wings.
  • Hot glue glue (Adult use or older kids supervised please!)

Let’s create fairies!

Take your popsicle stick and one of the pom poms (larger ones work the best and look super cute with the larger eyes. Hot glue it to the top and you can squeeze the popsicle stick in the middle of it a bit and cover the back with the fur if you want.

Then add which eyes you want! You can have a lot of fun here. Make it a cyclops or one with a big and small eye, or several eyes. These fairies can be whimsical monster crossovers too!

Lastly, pick your wings hot glue them to the back. Glue one and then glue the other one on top of that one. If you have smaller wood leaves to use you might not have to overlap them. You could also have one slightly lower to make it seem like they are flying.

Get Creative!

Now the fun part! Let your pretend play instincts take flight! The eyes really create some fun when they are being flown around. They almost sound like a rattle – especially the bigger eye ones. Let me know if you make this craft and how yours turned out!
